1)       To provide you with information on the coup attempt against General Noriega, please find attached several newspapers excerpts on the subject. The most detailed account is found on The New York Times of October 8, 1989.

2)             No specific references to opposition's broadcast on either TV4 or Radio Cadent Exitosa were found among the sources currently available to the IRBDC. The broadcast of Radio Cadena Exitosa which according to Daily Report (Foreign Broadcast Information Service, October 3 and 4, 1989) referred to the coup attempt are included.

It is worth noting that The New York Times reported that on October 3, at 12:10 A.M. "The rebels broadcast a communiqué saying General Noriega was captured and would be forced to retire." ["Panama Crisis" Disarray Hindered White House",The New York Times, October 8, 1989.] However, no mention of the broadcast station is made.
