Clashes and explosions have been reported in a camp for Iranian exiles in northeastern Iraq.
Iraqi officials said at least 15 people had been killed at the camp, in Diyala Province, for members of the People's Mujahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI), also known as the Mujahedin-e Khalq.
There was no word on how the violence began, though a spokesman for Iraq's prime minister said it was the result of in-fighting among Iranian exiles and that no Iraqi forces were involved.
A PMOI spokesperson in London said Iraqi troops had entered the camp, killed as many as 44 people and set fire to PMOI property.
The Iraqi government considers the PMOI's presence in Iraq to be illegal and wants its members to leave.
