The 69th Conference of the International Law Association, held in London, United Kingdom, 25-29 July 2000:
HAVING CONSIDERED the Report of the Committee on Internally Displaced Persons;
ADOPTS (1) the Preamble contained in that Report and (2) the Declaration of International Law Principles on Internally Displaced Persons;
NOTES with appreciation the Committee's commentary on each of the Principles contained in its Report;
UNDERLINES the fact that this Declaration highlights the unsolved problems of the relationship between refugee law and the status of internally displaced persons, which require further study;
REQUESTS the Secretary-General to distribute the Declaration together with the Committee's Report to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, UNHCR, UNWRA, ICRC and other relevant international agencies, with the request that they distribute the Declaration to their respective Member States;
THANKS the Chair, the Co-Rapporteurs and the members of the Committee for their work;
RECOMMENDS to the Executive Council that the Committee, having accomplished its mandate, be dissolved.
