Conflict is escalating in northern Syria, and increased fighting is putting innocent lives at risk. In the last 8 years, more than 5.6 million refugees have already fled Syria in order to survive, with another 6.2 million internally displaced. We are closely monitoring the current situation and remain ready to respond with our humanitarian partners should the conditions deteriorate.
Since 2011, UNHCR has been providing life-saving protection and assistance to the ones in need, mostly women and children. But the work is far from over, and today our response for thousands of families in desperate need is critically underfunded.
