About John

Author and vlogger John Green has supported UNHCR since 2015, when he travelled to Jordan to meet Syrian families living in Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps, as well as Amman. Through vlogs and photographs, John helped to tell some of their extraordinary stories of escape and survival, helping to highlight the vital role of UNHCR in supporting and protecting refugees.

John was later reunited with Syrian refugee Abu Mustafa and his family in Illinois, following their resettlement from Amman, Jordan.

Since then, John has drawn attention to the global refugee crisis via his popular social media platforms. With his brother Hank, he raised significant funds for UNHCR through their Vlogbrothers annual ‘Project for Awesome’ community-driven charitable movement on YouTube. He has also inspired his fans to support UNHCR's Rohingya emergency response

John has also helped to amplify key UNHCR campaigns, including #WithRefugees.
