The Ceremony
UNHCR and the Nansen Refugee Award Partners honour the Award winner at a dignified ceremony in Geneva, Switzerland. At the ceremony, the winner is presented with the Nansen Refugee Award Medal and given a platform to speak about their work to a global audience.
The ceremony was in honour of Dr. Evan Atar Adaha’s achievements in securing in providing medical services to more than 200,000 people, including approximately 144,000 refugees from Sudan’s Blue Nile state.
The ceremony is organised by UNHCR with the generous support from the Swiss and Norwegian governments, the State Council of the Republic and Canton of Geneva, the Administrative Council of the City of Geneva and the IKEA Foundation. Every year, the ceremony brings together performers and speakers passionate about the refugee cause.
