Public health

UNHCR continues to partner with the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) to strengthen the health system and reinforce response capacity. In 2017, under the EU-funded European Neighbourhood Instrument (ENI), UNHCR continues to support the salaries of 55 staff working for the MoPH (central and peripheral) on the communicable disease response and the epidemiology surveillance system, the Primary Health Care department and the Health Information System, as well as nurses and midwives at primary health care facilities. UNHCR also donated high-end imaging equipment (CT and MRI scanner) to Rafik Hariri Governmental Hospital to increase the capacity for provision of essential imaging services.
