NADIMA: A Tale of Shattered Innocence

Could you ever imagine it was you having to flee?

“Nadima” is an audio journey imitating the experiences of a South Sudanese refugee fleeing home to Uganda. You can experience how refugees be frightened by sound of wars, crying of victims or even a piece of silence during the painful journey, and the joy of restoring hope by safe shelter.

Click here to listen the journey on YouTube now.

Due to conflict or persecution, innocent refugees were forced to flee their homes. They trekked across forests, rough seas and borders to survive. They suffer from sickness, exhaustion and hunger even when they can survive all dangers in the risky voyages.

South Sudan and Uganda Refugee Crisis

Since December 2013, when South Sudan’s crisis erupted in Juba, more than two million South Sudanese have fled to neighbouring countries, while another two million people are estimated to be internally displaced.

Over the past 12 months, an average of 1,800 South Sudanese have been arriving in Uganda every day, where the number of refugees from South Sudan has now reached 1 million. In addition to the million there, a million or even more South Sudanese refugees are being hosted by Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Central African Republic.

In Uganda, more than 85 per cent of the refugees who have arrived there are women and children. Recent arrivals continue to speak of barbaric violence, with armed groups reportedly burning down houses with civilians inside, and people being killed in front of family members.

With refugees still arriving in their thousands, the amount of aid we are able to deliver is increasingly falling short. For Uganda, US$674 million is needed for South Sudanese refugees this year, but so far only 21% has been received.

There are millions of others like Nadima suffering today because of the refugee crisis. Please support us to provide them with safe shelter. Give them a second chane and a life of dignity.
