Refugees in Indonesia

Although Indonesia has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention on Refugees, the country has a long tradition of hosting refugees and people in need of international protection.

Today, there are some 14,000 refugees registered with the UNHCR office in Indonesia.

At the end of December 2018, most refugees in Indonesia came from Afghanistan (55%), Somalia (11%) and Myanmar (6%)
