Kyrgyzstan has reached considerable results in the reduction of statelessness, however, there are more steps to be done. PSA is devoted to birth certification which is an important aspect in the prevention of statelessness.

UNHCR provides technical assistance to the State Registration Service to reduce statelessness

Bishkek, 24 October 2012 - Today the UN Refugee Agency in Kyrgyzstan (UNHCR) handed over technical assistance and capacity building equipment to the State Registration Service's Department of Registration of Acts of Civil Status. This assistance is aimed at supporting and strengthening the work of the Department in the issuance of documentation, ensuring that people are not left undocumented and thus prevented from becoming stateless.
