Crisis in CAR
Civilians are caught in the cross fire as fighting rages in Central African Republic.
With armed groups controlling parts of the country, over 1 million Central African Republic (CAR) refugees have fled their homes in desperation, seeking safety within mosques and churches, as well as in neighbouring Cameroon, Democratic Republic of the Congo and Chad. They arrive weak, having walked for days with little water or food. Many show signs of brutal attacks and extreme malnutrition.
Our teams are working around the clock to distribute emergency supplies, erect shelters and expedite life-saving food, medical care and water. But the needs far surpass current funding levels in one of the world’s most poorly funded emergencies.
