Division of Information Systems and Telecommunications

The Division of Information Systems & Telecommunications (DIST) drives the technology discussion for UNHCR across the globe, in close collaboration with field operations and regional bureaux. DIST is responsible for ensuring UNHCR personnel have the technology tools needed to efficiently, effectively and safely carry out their work.

In close collaboration with field operations and regional bureaux, the Division of Information Systems & Telecommunications (DIST) drives and owns Information and Communications Technology (ICT) for UNHCR.

Under the leadership of the Chief Information Of­ficer (CIO) and Director, DIST supports UNHCR as it strives to become the global leader in data and information on forcibly displaced persons, ensuring the right solutions are designed, developed and maintained in a cost-effective, timely and secure manner.

As Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Director of DIST, Doug Greene leads the ICT vision and strategy of UNHCR, driving the corporate effort towards increased utilization of technology to improve protection, assistance and durable solutions for the people of concern to UNHCR.

 

Responsible for providing leadership and support in UNHCR ICT worldwide, including technology strategy and planning, performance and results, policy formulation, investment planning and oversight, compliance and audit coordination, supplier relationship management, and resource management.

Focuses on building strategic partnerships with the Divisions and Bureaux, increasing the value ICT brings to UNHCR’s operations, and ensuring DIST services are fit for purpose and meet the ICT needs of the organization.

DIST Business Relationship Management Service is led by Mr Edward Chin. 

Responsible for providing quality services to the UNHCR community, including staff, affiliate workforce, and implementing partners who assist the organization in the delivery of its core mandate.

DIST Customer Support Service is led by Mr Ian Bennett.

Responsible for delivering and maintaining the common ICT Infrastructure, which is the foundation of all services provided by DIST. Located primarily in Amman, the ICT Operations Service manages day-to- interaction with the providers, through the service delivery management process.

DIST ICT Operations Service is led by Mr Lucio Pascarelli.
