Nigeria: Urgent need to tackle malnutrition
Aisha Mohammadu is worried about her 10-month old daughter, Fatima, who is suffering from extreme hunger. They are among the 1.8 million people in northern Nigeria displaced by the Boko Haram conflict. Health officials working with the International Rescue Committee report high cases of severe acute malnutrition in the region. The UN is warning that tens of thousands of children could die from hunger in parts of north-eastern Nigeria unless urgent assistance is provided.
