    We are deeply saddened to confirm that an aid worker was killed yesterday after our convoy carrying education supplies came under fire. I strongly condemn this senseless assault. Aid workers must be allowed to carry out their work without fear.

    We are committed to doing all we can to help the children and young people of Yemen but there should be a political solution to the conflict. We all need to give peace a chance. It is the only way forward.

    In Aden, a young girl gave me a drawing of the world that she would like to live in. It showed a girl sitting in a park on a sunny day next to a big house. It was the opposite of the world surrounding her, one of displacement, destruction and fear.
