    Since the last rescue on June 8, over 500 people have died in the Central . The is abdicating their responsibilities to save lives, blocking search & rescue 's & condemning people to be trapped in . Any deaths caused by this are now at their hands.

    UPDATE: The remains in the port of following our regular scheduled port call. Given the current politics at sea, and the criminalisation of search & rescue vessels, we force ourselves to also take some time to assess the situation.

    Today at least 100 more vulnerable people feared dead as their boat capsized off . Destroying independent search & rescue capacity in the will only lead to more unnecessary deaths at sea. The human cost is horrendous.

    Saving lives at sea is not a crime. Scapegoating is a tactic to distract from the real issue: a broken asylum system. member states are abdicating their responsibilities to save lives & deliberately condemning vulnerable people to be trapped in , or die at sea.
