    This poor little Syrian child, saw a cameraman trying to take a photo for her, she put her hands up thinking that the camera is a gun! That is what war is doing to our children!

    My annual report on children and armed conflict shows an outrageous increase in violations against children in 2017. We need concrete measures to end this horrific situation, including peaceful resolution of conflicts.

    Unfortunately, those child will wither be killed or be recruited as child soldiers by the armed groups!

    We’ve been taught in the law school that, the founding fathers provided a way to reserve unpopular Supreme Court decisions: a constitutional amendment.

    The Supreme Court overruled Korematsu v. United States, which endorsed the detention of Japanese-Americans during World War II. Then it said its decision on the travel ban was different.

    Less than 0.5% of the world’s refugee population were resettled in 2017. Yet needs are greater than ever: the global refugee population passed 19 million in 2017, and resettlement needs have doubled in the last six years.

    Those kids deserve a better life!

    Resettlement is a life-saving tool for refugees, and essential in protecting the most vulnerable. 25% of UNHCR referrals for resettlement in 2017 were survivors of violence and torture. 51% were children.
