  1. In my meeting with PM Fayez al-Sarraj I appealed that migrants brought back to shore or rescued by the Coast Guard not be put into detention centers. Those who wish to go home should be voluntarily returned to their countries of origins rather than linger in detention.

    I’ve just returned to Libya After a series of tragedies and the loss of hundreds of migrant lives (including several babies). My message is that all must focus on saving lives and protecting migrant rights.
