    Canada’s opioid crisis deepened in 2017 and Manitoba is no exception, according to new government data. Nearly 4,000 people died as a result of opioids in 2017. That’s up 34 per cent from the previous year, with an 81 per cent jump in accidental deaths involving fentanyl.

    A total of 161 firearms have been handed over to Winnipeg Police within the first three weeks of Manitoba's province-wide gun amnesty program. WPS Insp. Eric Luke said police are "very happy" with the numbers, with 10 more days to go.
