    ID cards are being issued to which protect them against forced return, recognise their legal identity & facilitate access to assistance. The exercise is being carried out by & the Government of Bangladesh. Legal Identity + Protection.

    Nothing could’ve prepared me for the scale of crisis and extent of suffering I saw today in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. I heard heartbreaking accounts from Rohingya refugees that will stay with me forever. My appeal to the int’l community is to step up support.

    On Monday I’ll be with in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh on a mission of solidarity with Rohingya refugees and the communities supporting them. The compassion & generosity of the Bangladeshi people shows the best of humanity and saved many thousands of lives.

    An extension of land on the western side of Kutupalong settlement where refugees at high risk of landslides are being assisted to move to - as many as can be assisted on the land available. This area is flatter and more secure from the risks monsoon rains pose in hillier areas.

    There’s not much space in the congested/hilly Kutupalong refugee settlement for games like ⚽️🏏 Six months ago flying kites was popular among children. These days it’s marbles. It was one of the games keeping their spirits up as they bravely weathered the harsh rains this week.
