In the heart of Yarmouk Camp, witnessed devastation on a scale I have rarely - if ever - seen in years of working in conflict zones.

In Sbeineh near Damascus, I saw the remarkable work carried out by teams in rehabilitating its schools & clinic in the camp. Played a key role in supporting return of first group of 10’000 Palestine refugees who had been displaced for over 4 years by conflict.

Deeply impressive meeting w/ students who survived in Yarmouk while ISIS was in control of part of camp. Told me how - despite pressures & threats - they managed to pursue their education. Am so inspired by their courage & grateful to their teachers for never giving up!

In Yalda, has been providing much needed emergency aid to Palestine refugees displaced from Yarmouk. Our Agency will stand with this deeply traumatized community and act decisively to further improve conditions in days and weeks ahead.

In Yalda, met with Palestine refugees displaced from Yarmouk. They spoke of horrors they have gone through. Relatives killed or missing, homes destroyed. All wanted to know if they would be able to return to Yarmouk.

Deeply moving visit to in Syria. Once home to 160’000 Palestine refugees, camp now lies in utter ruin. Have rarely - if ever - seen destruction on such colossal scale. Heard countless tales of loss & trauma from refugees who survived the different phases of conflict.

Honoured 9th grade students. As said: "You're an inspiration not only for your families and Palestine refugee families, but also for the world. I want your stories and your names to be known outside of Syria. You symbolise what Palestine refugees stand for."
