    More than 200 & drown in three days trying to reach via the Mediterranean Sea. In June, almost 1 in 10 died or went missing upon departure from the coast.

    A new shipwreck off the Libyan coast has brought the number of people missing at sea since Friday to over 170. At least 63 people are feared to have drowned in the latest incident & no bodies found.

    This is still ongoing! European governments must put human lives first. People rescued at sea need swift disembarkation in closest safe port so they can receive adequate care and those in need of international protection are able to apply for it.

    25.4 million have fled their countries to escape conflict & persecution Fact: 85% of refugees are in developing countries; 4 out of 5 remain in countries next door to their own. Fiction: refugees are mainly in countries of the global north.

    Latest report -68.5 million human beings were uprooted from their homes by Wars, violence & persecution at end of 2017- I don’t think we can really quite fathom the magnitude of this- it’s more people than the population of Thailand!
