President Museveni hasn't tweeted since his government implemented
#Uganda's new $0.05 "social media tax" -
This mobile money tax thing... social media tax which is facing lots of pushback on these streets and attracting international attention ..plus the high profile killings.. and unresolved high profile murders and kidnappings.. paint an unfair picture of
#Uganda as a destination. -

Deposits, taxed. Sending, taxed. Receiving, taxed. Withdrawing, taxed.
#MobileMoney was innovated to compensate for the insufficiency of commercial banks. Now, we may need commercial banks to rescue us from Mobile Money.#Uganda -

Some names of women kidnapped & murdered in
#Uganda. We must not allow this to be normal. Stay outraged! March to ask our police and leaders to do more to protect women and ensure justice for families who have lost loved ones. June 30, Centenary park 10 am.#WomensMarchUg pic.twitter.com/1UMHfvhDmw -
The Social Media Tax and Mobile Money Tax are not taxes that are for the benefit of the people of
#Uganda. This feels more like a systematic plunder from an already crippling ecnomy.#ThisTaxMustGo -

#InTheNews#Uganda’s President Museveni has defended the new social media tax, saying Ugandans were using such platforms for “lying”. He also said there has been a been a “miscommunication” and that the levy would be 0.5 percent of the value of transactions, not 1 percent. pic.twitter.com/ihpC4B5dDx -
I have joined friends at CyberLine to file a case against the government of
#Uganda challenging tax on#OTTs eg#socialmedia platforms. In my Affidavit, I contend that the tax offends the principles of#NetNeutrality & Open#internet. We must protect Ugandan e-commerce businesses -

Interesting is Uganda!
@UgandaEc has a list of villages not known to the Ministry of Local Gov't. As if having ungazetted villages is not enough, the EC generated a list of@NRMOnline flag bearers for the said villages but the party, NRM doesn't know the said flag bearers#Uganda
