    I met these impressive young women in the audience at . Selected from thousands of refugee students to attend. Esther is top of her class. Amal plans to be a lawyer. Marina wrote an award winning essay and wants to be a pilot.

    A big thanks to and for the support and opportunity to raise awareness on the situation of in the region. Humanitarian needs are great but we also know refugees can be productive and self reliant when given the chance.

    Pleased to host & members of the diplomatic corps to discuss the Burundi & S. Sudan refugee situations. United States remains deeply concerned about the plight of refugees & the sources of protracted conflict that prevent many refugees from returning home.

    Quite a trip joining in Rwanda and Burundi this week. The new or borrowed, carefully chosen and ironed clothes worn by those refugees chosen to meet him is what got me. They have lost so much but remain so dignified.

    When UN Filippo Grandi met refugees from DR Congo, Burundi and Rwanda this week, they told him they want peace and security so they can work and provide an education for their children

    This is a lovely story. Refugee inclusion has benefits for hosts and refugees alike.

    “I am very happy because now I have a good Burundian friend.” Rwandan student, Anethe speaks about her best friend Anethe who's from Burundi. Learning together has resulted in an unlikely friendship between the two.

    After reception yesterday, more than 2500 who fled because of insecurity - as they say- are being screened before shifting to Nyarushishi transit Center. MIDIMAR, UNHCR & partners supplied food, clean water & established conditions of sanitation&hygiene

    Need to ensure does not become a "forgotten refugee crisis" - watch ' Catherine Wiesner brief press in Geneva today. UNHCR w/its 26 other humanitarian partners launched a funding appeal for USD 391 million to support ~430,000 Burundian refugees during 2018.
