Rashiecoats. A version of the Cinderella story from Scotland in which the heroine is clever and resourceful. And has a fairy godmother who may be the ghost of her mother...or even her own inner voice. A favourite of mine

Raven is the culture hero of the Inuit, Aleut and Yupik peoples. He is a benevolent transformer figure who helps shape the world. Raven is also a trickster and many Arctic stories have to do with his frivolous behavior getting him into trouble.

  12. This raised-earth sculpture of a legendary giant horse stretches over 200+ metres of fields in Caerphilly, Wales. "Sultan the Pit Pony" was designed by Mick Petts, and the work of art is said to be "the largest figurative earth sculpture in the UK."

According to Missourian folklorist Mary A. Owen, Charles Leland's protégé, a woman could become a witch by going to a field at night and pulling up weeds "by the roots". Women who picked up the large clusters were expected to become extraordinary witches.

The Romans believed the moon could be beneficial for agricultural activities. For instance, vines could apparently be protected if one pruned them by the light of the full moon in the sign of Scorpio, Leo, Sagittarius, or Taurus.

Older houses would have a ledge built high up into the inside of the chimney of inglenook fireplaces, it was called a Witches Seat, giving a witch somewhere to be warm so they didn't invade the house.

A hand of glory is the mummified left hand of a hanged murderer turned into a candle holder of sorts (using rendered fat of the murderer to make the candle itself). Said to cause paralysis in those it is presented to.

Don't look into a mirror that belonged to someone who died recently. Their soul will take you with them into the underworld. The mirror only becomes safe for reuse after their burial or cremation. More about reflections here ->

💍To ensure children in a new marriage, women went in secret to harvested fields on a Friday night, took a wheat straw for each boy wanted, an oat straw for each girl & wove them to wear round their leg till Monday morning - but if it broke, so did the charm!
