There is no migration/refugee crisis in Europe. Very low arrival and "secondary movement" figures are the opportunity for EU states to focus together on real issues like asylum reform, safe pathways and more+better aid to refugee hosting+transit countries.

Imagine sound of the thunder. ⛈️ After your village has been burned to the ground. After you've fled. After you've survived the dangerous journey. After you're given a bamboo shelter to survive. After you realize the monsoon is coming. It's terrifying.

Those shouting about a “refugee emergency” in Europe or America should visit African communities giving refuge to millions with small resources. Energies would be better spent helping people address problems here while sharing some of the refugee burden born by poor countries.

2/3 of refugees come from 5 countries. Peace in Syria, Afghanistan, Sth Sudan, Myanmar or Somalia could significantly reduce refugee numbers. We need to address root causes & find political solutions so ppl can safely go home.

Last year, every 2 seconds a person was forced to flee home. They need our support, now more than ever. Remember: “No one becomes a refugee by choice; but the rest of us can have a choice about how we help.”
