Agadez, a desert crossroads in Niger, sees thousands of people pass through on their way north with hopes of reaching Europe – but more than 2,000 Sudanese have made the opposite journey in the past few months. Traumatized by their experiences in Libya, they have fled south, seeking safety in one of the world's poorest countries.
