MBC Al Amal is the corporate social responsibility arm of media company MBC Group, focusing on social development, education, youth empowerment and humanitarian relief in the Middle East.
UNHCR’s partnership and collaboration efforts with MBC Al Amal began in 2015 and have played a strategic and integral in supporting the refugee cause in the region.
In 2015, in partnership with UNHCR, MBC Al Amal launched a series of campaigns in support of refugees, such as the Children of Hope, Stars on Board, Back to School, Warm Their Hearts (an advocacy campaign to support winterization programmes) and The Lifeline Appeal, which was featured on a dedicated episode of the popular MBC Ramadan show, Khawater. The appeal helped to create awareness around the refugee pledge, while raising almost USD 5 million of funds to help UNHCR provide cash assistance to vulnerable refugee families.
