    Government, ECOWAS and UNHCR at the high table of the World Refugee Day gala. Norway, Namibia, IOM and the Secretary to the Federal Government were also at the presidium. Refugees presented their lived experience of trials, tribulations and national and international solidarity.

    My 3 reasons to stand with refugees: 1: fellow human beings. 2: My elder sister & big brother both late & their children were refugees in Malawi until the Sant'Egidio Accord in Rome between the government and RENAMO in 1992. 3: I have been working for refugees since August 1989

    Government of Nigeria, ECOWAS join hands with UNHCR to commemorate World Refugee Day. The closest to the international Refugee Convention has been crafted by Africa: the Kampala Convention. In Nigeria it is inevitable to see IDPS & refugees as two sides of the same human drama

    As we celebrate World Refugee Day, we note that Internally displaced persons don't have a similar global protection convention. UNHCR Nigeria can't celebrate the resilience & reflect on the plight of 22,000 refugees without associating the more than 1.7 million IDPS in NE Nigeria

    Last year this time refugees in Nigeria were less than 2,000. As we celebrate another World Refugee Day one year later, Nigeria hosts more than 22,000 refugees.
