    A question I've asked repeatedly, but to which there has never been a decent answer. Why did no-one in the EU anticipate, plan and prepare for the large-scale arrival of refugees in 2015-16? Could someone do a study on this?

    Exactly correct. So why doesn’t the compact offered by propose a binding system of burden and responsibility sharing for ? Why settle for pontification and a promise only of endless meetings? Tragic lost opportunity for leadership to reinvigorate .

    A new law has been passed in that makes it almost impossible to seek asylum & criminalizes those helping migrants and refugees. A sad reminder on of the challenges ahead
