    A refugee child evacuated from Libya to Niger made this drawing. He could have been among the 220 people who drowned in the Mediterranean today. Let’s give more children safe pathways out of despair.

    In Libya, at the start of a trip along the routes of refugees+migrants. Some crossed the sea. Some died. Some are trapped. UNHCR, & partners are here. We believe the situation can be managed, given the right resources, approaches & international support.

    With last night's evacuation flight to Niger, almost 1500 vulnerable refugees have now been rescued from appalling conditions in Libya. For many, many others we need access on the ground, financial resources and more resettlement places in other countries.
