    The court goes into recess for 20 minutes. Then we expect a decision. There has not been a shred of evidence produced against Taner. Over a year in prison. This must be brought to an end now. now.

    We have known this all along. We have not one, FOUR separate forensic reports to prove it. The only correct decision is to end this cruel injustice and today!!!

    Now is making a statement. Incredibly moving to see him, even though only on the screen. ‘You ruled to release me in January. I wasn’t. I want you to know that this last half year has not been easy for me.’ now! Enough is enough.

  12. “It was sunny, that’s all I can remember”- could this be the most unreliable “secret witness” ever? He refuses to answer questions, contradicts his own statements and says he doesn’t remember the most basic things. It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.

  13. Surreal. The case which includes many prominent human rights defenders and our colleague Idil Eser is almost entirely based on an unreliable “secret witness” who “overheard” things in the hotel. All that misery. Zero evidence.

    The court is still working its way through other cases before it hears the case of Amnesty’s Taner Kılıç and the Istanbul 10. There will be at least another hour delay before our hearing starts.
