    The court goes into recess for 20 minutes. Then we expect a decision. There has not been a shred of evidence produced against Taner. Over a year in prison. This must be brought to an end now. now.

    Ruling coming soon on whether Taner Kılıç, honorary chair of Amnesty Turkey will be released after more than a year of arbitrary prison detention. There can only be one logical decision. Wait for it...

    We have known this all along. We have not one, FOUR separate forensic reports to prove it. The only correct decision is to end this cruel injustice and today!!!

    About 30 minutes into Taner’s statement the judge says the additional report he has requested about the presence or absence of ByLock arrived this morning. It’s a page long and it says THERE IS NO BYLOCK on the phone!!!! NOW!!!

    “It was sunny, that’s all I can remember”- could this be the most unreliable “secret witness” ever? He refuses to answer questions, contradicts his own statements and says he doesn’t remember the most basic things. It would be funny if it wasn’t so tragic.

    Surreal. The case which includes many prominent human rights defenders and our colleague Idil Eser is almost entirely based on an unreliable “secret witness” who “overheard” things in the hotel. All that misery. Zero evidence.

    Lawyer: who is with the secret witness? Is there anyone else? Technical person replies to say they are there with the witness but that a judge who was meant to be there isn’t.
