Lithuanian unearmarked funds save refugees worldwide
Contributions to UNHCR
Since 2011, Lithuania has been a committed donor to UNHCR. Between 2012 and 2017, Lithuania donated EUR 375,684 (USD 337,068 ) to Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Myanmar and the neighbouring countries, thereby contributing to ensure the protection and delivery of core relief items to many refugees and internally displaced people. In 2017, Lithuania increased its total donation to UNHCR substantially, including an important unearmarked contribution of EUR 20,000 (USD 21,231) that UNHCR can use to boost underfunded operations and help where the need is greatest.

In 2017, the Lithuanian government increased its annual funding to UNHCR, strengthening the protection of people forced to flee their homes in Afghanistan, Iraq, Myanmar and Syria.
Lithuania donates to UNHCR to help Syrian refugees
As part of the international community’s emergency response to Syria, Lithuania has donated LTL 70,000 (USD 26,237) to UNHCR to assist and protect Syrian refugees.
Lithuania donates €50,000 to UNHCR to help people forced to flee their homes in Ukraine
At the end of December 2014, the Republic of Lithuania donated €50,000 to the UNHCR Internally Displaced People (IDPS) Operation in Ukraine. This donation is amongst the largest contributions Lithuania has made to UNHCR’s humitarian operations.
