    When a newly arrived Syrian refugee showed up for an opening at Ottawa Bagel Shop and Deli — a shop owned by Liliana Piazza — it was a no brainer to help. Liliana knew his limited English was not a barrier to success in the bakery and deli, so she hired him.

    I help refugees for multiple reasons but primarily because my family came to Canada as political refugees in the late 80s. I wouldn’t be where I am if they hadn’t reiceved the help they did.

    Some things are awful right now, but this Nova Scotia chocolate factory run by a family of Syrian refugees has made a line of Pride chocolate bars and it is just very, very nice

    At my workplace, we gathered winter clothing to share with newcomers that were landing in Canada in the middle of winter and delivered 28 large bags full of clothing items and accessories!
