Letters of Love and National Sovereignty and Children’s Day – Turkey
Letters of Love in collaboration with #UNHCR Turkey will be celebrating National Sovereignty and Children’s Day (23 April) in Turkey with letters from around the world being delivered to over 2000 refugee children.

‘Football Communities’ organised by Balon Mundial A.S.D. ONLUS, supported by FARE network – Turin, Italy
The football match on 13 May, 2018 is the final match of a 3-week tournament for asylum seekers and refugees from Piedmont CAS and SPAR, began in which 18 refugee teams will play in the football pitch (Impianto Regaldi, via Monteverdi 4, Torino) in the heart of the “Barrieradi Milano”, one of the biggest multicultural neighborhood in Turin.

Closing Ceremony for DLA Piper’s ‘Know your Rights’ Program for Refugees – Europe
Know Your Rights is a legal empowerment project set up by DLA Piper for asylum seekers and refugees in Europe. Participants receive weekly training on various legal issues and their rights.
The goal is to empower the attendees by increasing their core legal knowledge and associated skills.

Refugee Football Cup — Multiple locations, Brazil
The Refugee Football Cup will mobilise around 300 refugees and asylum seekers who all share a love for the beautiful game and will be held from 3 June through August 2018. Events will be held in Porto Alegre, Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro and the final at the Pacaembu São Paulo Stadium.*

An all-day festival held on the front lawn of the Washington National Cathedral in the District of Columbia will connect participants through the shared languages of humanity: art, fashion, food, music & dance from the countries that today’s refugees originally called home.

World Refugee Day Breakfast — Australia
Businesses and community leaders, and high profile supporters from the Australian arts, sport and entertainment sectors will come together to stand in solidarity with refugees at the Australia for UNHCR Breakfast, a flagship event in Australia’s marking of World Refugee Day. The event will be hosted by well-known ABC broadcaster and journalist Kumi Taguchi, with New South Wales State Premier The Hon.
Gladys Berejiklian MP as the keynote speaker. Australia for UNHCR Special Representative, actor Marta Dusseldorp will lead a panel with two young Syrian women who arrived in Australia as refugees to speak about their experiences of war and resettlement.

Launch of French edition of “No Stranger Place” exhibition at Ground Control — Paris, France
No Stranger Place is a series of stories profiling refugees and their hosts across Europe, developed by photographer Aubrey Wade. The project was born out of a desire to respond, as so many volunteers and ordinary people had, to the unfolding European refugee crisis.

Mauritania will be celebrating the resilience of displaced populations in areas at risk of drought and the ones who host them with a public concert on 20 June at the French Cultural Institute (IFM) by refugee Malian band Taflist.

375 passionate youth advocates from around the world will convene for the 7th annual Girl Up Leadership Summit in Washington, D.C. For three jam-packed days, these young change-makers will participate in leadership training, learn from influential speakers, engage in skills-based workshops, and lead an official lobby day on Capitol Hill.
Paleo Festival — Nyon, Switzerland
The Paleo Festival is Switzerland’s largest outdoor music festival. The five day event attracts more than 200,000 people and features music from dozens of bands. This year UNHCR will have a stand where concert goers can show their support for refugees and speak with UNHCR staff.
