Hurricane Windblown made landfall on Sorland’s southern coast on 25 September, with category 3 force winds.
 
Current projections estimated that 2 million people could be directly impacted by Hurricane Windblown. While the effects of the hurricane will be felt over large parts of Sorland, the impact will be most severe in Farsund and Lyngdal municipalities. These two municipalities have a combined population of about 1 million people. The hurricane has caused severe flooding in both urban and rural areas, and landslides have been reported.
 
Heavy rainfall in southern parts of Sorland since early September has already led to severe flooding in the hurricane-affected municipalities. According to government data, 150,000 people have been directly affected by the floods and 35,000 people have been displaced.
