A new field office, in Monga, was opened to provide better protection and assistance to new arrivals from CAR in remote areas of Bas-Uele Province.

As of 31 December, 87,307 CAR refugees had arrived since mid-May 2017 in Nord-Ubangi and Bas-Uele provinces.

UNHCR and WFP distributed cash to new arrivals (20,261) and to hosting families (6,145 individuals) in the area of Gbadolite, Nord-Ubangi Province.

In the four camps of Nord and Sud Ubangi provinces, 683 latrines and 880 transitional shelters were constructed during 2017.

On 15 November 2017, the UN Security Council adopted unanimously Resolution 2387, renewing the mandate of MINUSCA until 15 November 2018 (OP31) and authorizing an increase of 900 military personnel to the number of MINUSCA troops (OP32) to increase MINUSCA’s flexibility and mobility to improve efficient implementation of its full mandate and protect civilians.
