Tunis Afrique Presse, 21 Apr 2018
(TAP) - A Tunisian delegation started on Friday a visit to Jordan to familiarise with the Jordanian experience in the management of refugee and displaced persons flows and the processing of asylum applications.
Organised on April 20-27 by the Arab Institute for Human Rights and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Tunis (UNHCR) in collaboration with the Office of the Jordanian Government Co-ordination on Human Rights, this field study visit is part of the UNHCR's annual capacity-building program on managing refugee flows for the benefit of its partners, including Tunisia.
The visit is also part of the visits already made by the Tunisian authorities to help them learn about comparative experiences in several neighbouring countries and the region, according to a press release of the Arab Institute for Human Rights.
In 2016 and 2017, several delegations of Tunisian departments concerned by the refugees issue visited Italy, Malta, Morocco and Mauritania.
The 27-member delegation will get acquainted with the refugee reception and protection mechanisms and meet with officials from Jordanian departments directly concerned by the refugee issue.
