From coast to coast, Canadians continue to show an outpouring of support for Syrian refugees. By housing them and including them as members of the community, they create powerful, if unlikely, bonds of friendship.

From Far and Wide profiles the diverse group stepping up to welcome these families, unbound by geography or language. In Toronto, a former Vietnamese refugee develops a close relationship with a young Syrian girl, seeing much of herself in the teenager. High up north, a community group in the Yukon takes on a family of 11, teaching them fishing and skating. Across this vast country, friends and strangers set a global example.

Some spend their time teaching English, others take families for walks in the park— all work unified by the belief that strong communities elevates all Canadians.
