Public education is typically not available to asylum-seekers and refugees in Trinidad and Tobago. Private education institutions may accept students in some instances. However private schooling is quite costly, averaging 2000 US dollars annually.

Therefore, UNHCR and its implementing partner LWC continue to work with asylum-seekers and refugees to provide education support on a case by case basis.
