A New Deal for Refugees

UNHCR and the international community are currently working on a new deal for refugees.

Known as the global compact on refugees, it aims to improve the international response to new and existing refugee situations.

Among other things, the compact seeks to ensure that refugees and the people hosting them, who are often in the poorest parts of the world, receive the support they need.

Another aim to is help refugees become more self-reliant so that they can contribute more to their own future and to that of the host community.
