Since 2009, repeated emergencies in El Salvador have given the Cluster ample opportunity to demonstrate its expertise in humanitarian response. As a result, the CCCM Cluster has been granted recognition by the Government of El Salvador, Cluster partners, and the United Nations system.
Following severe flooding in 2010 and 2011, continued natural disasters in 2012 and 2013 have affected over 600,000 people in Colombia. The CCCM Cluster has been assisting the Colombian Government and vulnerable communities in developing their preparation, comprehensive response, temporary shelter, and recuperation capacities.
Three years after the devastating earthquake of January 2010, the joint CCCM, Emergency Shelter and NFI Cluster is continuing to assist IDPs in Haiti, where nearly 350,000 people still remain in camps and sites scattered around the Ouest and Sud-Est regions. In 2013, the Cluster will continue to focus on capacity building initiatives, relocation and return projects.
The CCCM unit is pleased to announce the latest printing of the Camp Management Toolkit. Applicable to both IDP and refugee scenarios, the Toolkit incorporates a wide range of relevant information on managing displaced populations living in communal settings, such as collective centres, spontaneous sites and established camps.
