CCCM promotes the capacity-building of relevant authorities in Erbil, Kurdistan Region of Iraq (KRI)
Erbil- Kurdistan Region of Iraq, September 21st 2015 - The CCCM Cluster implemented a Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) training funded by ACTED. The training lasted 2.5 days (September 20-22) and gathered 18 participants including mainly local organizations and Cluster partners. Among the participants, three were from the Erbil Refugee Council (ERC), seven national staff from Barzani Charity Foundation (BCF), four national staff from ACTED, two national staff from UNHCR and two representatives of the local Church.
The core objective of this training was to build CCCM capacity of national actors regarding camp management and camp coordination. CCCM in Iraq continues to implement its mission of strengthening technical support and support to national authorities through capacity building. The present training, led by local CCCM trainers, was conducted in Arabic, following the Global CCCM training materials, and reinforced with punctual translations and explanations in English. In addition to a general introduction into CCCM, the training included thematic modules on Roles and Responsibilities, Protection-Legal framework, Protection in Action, Safety and Security in Camps, Community Participation, Care and Maintenance, Coordination, Information Management and CCCM Gender mainstreaming.
The CCCM training was successfully concluded on 22nd September with the delivery of the certificates to all participants. The training has contributed to the reinforcement of the capacity of camp managers and their teams in camps throughout the Erbil Governorate. In addition to the formal learning component, the training was also an opportunity to discuss CCCM issues in camps, exchange information and lessons learned, as well as increase the knowledge and interaction between camp management staff and CCCM Cluster staff.
