Integrating livelihoods and protection for displaced persons in urban humanitarian response
This guidance note is part of a larger project that seeks to provide guidance to practitioners and policy makers, at local, national, and international levels for addressing humanitarian crises in urban environments. The note outlines ten core principles practitioners can follow when aiming to integrate protection and livelihoods programming. Each principle provides background as to why it is important to consider the guidance when implementing in complex urban environments; questions to guide intervention design; illustrative indicators to measure programme effectiveness; notes on sustainability; and brief case examples.
