A dialogue with the GPC Coordinator
In a webinar organized by InterAction, Simon Russell, the newly appointed Global Protection Cluster (GPC) Coordinator gave his perspective on the volume and complexity of protection challenges around the world today. Humanitarian actors must work together in seeking positive outcomes for affected people, and the GPC has a pivotal role to play in this coordination. Simon spoke openly regarding his perspective on the primary challenges in ensuring effective coordination on protection both globally and in-country, and how we should be gearing up for the proliferation of crises and increased need. The GPC Coordinator also highlighted how ways of working may need to adapt in future, for example based on the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) Protection Policy that was endorsed in 2016.
