1 October is the International Day of Older Persons. In times of conflict, older people are at heightened risk of being forgotten, abandoned and neglected. In Ukraine, many elderly people have been forced to flee their homes since fighting broke out in 2014. UNHCR and partners have helped rebuild the homes of displaced Ukrainians like 91-year-old Maria, whose house was destroyed by heavy shelling, to allow them to return home. With your help, we can continue to provide assistance to vulnerable displaced older people around the world, to make sure they can live in safety and dignity.
