Refugees in Indonesia

Although Indonesia has not ratified the 1951 Refugee Convention on Refugees, the country has a long tradition of hosting refugees and people in need of international protection.

Today, there are more than 13,700 refugees and asylum seekers with the UNHCR office in Indonesia.

At the end of November 2017, most refugees in Indonesia came from Afghanistan (55%), Somalia (11%) and Myanmar and Iraq (6%)
