The International Rescue Committee (IRC) emergency team conducted an assessment of the nature and extent of gender-
based violence experienced by women and girls in Yida camp. Over a one-week period this February, the IRC spoke
with more than 100 women and girls and several key members of the community, and conducted multiple safety audits
to identify the types of violence that women and girls experienced while fleeing Nuba and upon arriving in Yida, the additional
risk factors contributing to their ongoing insecurity, and the availability and accessibility of services and support.
