CAR: The Secretary-General strongly condemns attack perpetrated by suspected anti-Balaka against a convoy of the United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), on 26 November 2017 on the Bangassou-Kongbo axis, in the country’s southeast, resulting in one peacekeeper from Egypt was killed and three others were injured.

On 15 November 2017, the UN Security Council adopted unanimously Resolution 2387, renewing the mandate of MINUSCA until 15 November 2018 (OP31) and authorizing an increase of 900 military personnel to the number of MINUSCA troops (OP32) to increase MINUSCA’s flexibility and mobility to improve efficient implementation of its full mandate and protect civilians.

CAR: Independent special investigation to look into a number of recent incidents in the south-east that occurred from 1 May to 31 August 2017.

CAR: The Head of the UN Mission in CAR, Parfait Onanga-Anyanga, briefed the Security Council on 6 November, stressing that the security situation in the country remains volatile and the humanitarian situation disastrous.

To date UNHCR received a total of 650 voluntary repatriation requests from CAR refugees. The dire economic condition in Republic of Congo seems to be the main reason of these repatriation requests.

Almost 5,000 refugees newly arrived in Bondo territory (Bas-Uele province) received relief items.

Local authorities reported tens of thousands new arrivals in areas of difficult access.

On 9 September the Eligibility Commission processed 642 cases of asylum seekers. On those, 632 CAR individuals were granted refugee status in the Republic of Congo.
