According to a representative of the Federal Republic of Germany in Ottawa, the spouse and children of a recognized refugee are also given refugee status (21 July 1993). However, the acquisition of refugee status by one person in Germany does not necessarily entail that the spouse and children will simultaneously obtain the same status (Ibid.).

No additional and/or corroborating information is currently available to the DIRB in Ottawa.
