Kenya Operation employs some 500 national and international staff who provide live-saving aid and protection every day for over 450,000 refugees and asylum seekers in Nairobi, Dadaab, Kakuma and Alinjugur.
National Professional Officers
National Professional Officers (NPOs) are employed to perform functions which require national knowledge and experience. NPOs must be Kenyans and have substantial knowledge of local conditions. They do not have a requirement to rotate. Vacancies in the NPOs category are simultaneously advertised internally and externally.

General Service Staff
General Service Staff are recruited locally, in the duty station where the vacancy arises. Candidates must be Kenyan nationals. They should also meet all established criteria. Staff in this category work in support roles and their functions vary from general administrative and secretarial assistance to more specialized positions, such as information technology assistant or protection assistant.
